Over four, two hour sessions, participants write, rehearse and perform their own 5-7 minutes of comedy. Students are coached and guided in a supportive and fun environment, where each person can discover and amplify their own, distinct voice, culminating in an exciting, live public show. It is a creative opportunity to take observations and stories from your life and transform them through writing and performing into an empowering experience.
Live comedy shows at various venues, hosted by Stephanie Lazenby and featuring Couch to Mic alumni. These performers have participated in the workshops at least twice and are ready to take their comedy to a professional level. The shows are different from a typical comedy night. There is no headliner, everyone is allowed equal billing and because it’s Couch to Mic, the comedy is unique and high quality. You won’t find a better show around!
At its core, Couch to Mic is about discovering your authentic voice and connecting with other people. Those simple guidelines create the space in you to overcome fears, be vulnerable and to empathize with your fellow humans. Yes - a comedy workshop does all of that, when it’s under the guidance and skill of Stephanie Lazenby.

I’ve enjoyed this class so much. It feels so good -and terrifying- to have the butterflies again Stephanie Lazenby is an excellent instructor, who fostered a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. Her dynamic, fun, and insightful teaching style helped me feel safe when I stretched wildly out of my comfort zone. I learned so much, and I had a fabulous time too. I highly recommend this class.
